THE INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL CONFERENCE ON AGRICULTURE AND AQUACULTURE (AGRIAQU 2020)

The International Virtual Conference on Agriculture and Aquaculture (AgriAQU 2020) was successfully held on 28^th July with 30 participants representing 12 countries. The South-South Aquaculture and Fisheries (SSAFC) was the Hosting Partner while TIIKM was the Associate Partner to this event.

AgriAQU 2020 invited academic and industry researchers to present and share their research work online. The Keynote Forum was an interactive session represented by two eminent resource persons in the Aquaculture and fisheries field. The keynote titled ”Fish for Health: Improved Nutritional Quality of Cultured Fish for Human Consumption” was delivered by Dr. Albert G.J Tacon, Technical Director – Aquahana LLC from USA and “Managing Diseases in Aquaculture” from the key person, Dr. Rohana Subasinghe, President of the World Aquaculture Society – Asia Pacific Chapter (WAS-APC).

The best presenters were awarded following the conference and are as follows:

Francisco F. Buctot Jr. from Southern Leyte State University in Philippines presenter under the research title of “Production Performance of Laying Japanese Quail [Coturnix Coturnix Japonica] Supplemented with Varying Levels of Sargassum”

K.C.T. Kodikara from Department of Chemistry (BMC), Uppsala University in Sweden. presented under the research title of “Distribution of Nutrient and Toxic Elements in Traditional and Improved Rice Varieties Found in Sri Lanka: Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometric (ICP-MS) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopic (ICP-AES) Study”
